On bikes older than 1948 you need to use reference to other, known year bikes,
or pull out the crank to look for a date stamp on it. Doing both is a good idea.
All serial number records before 8/18/1948 were lost in a factory fire.

Old Antique ELGIN Bicycle Sears, Roebuck & Co.Model # 501-167. First off I would like to say it is a really neat looking bike however I am not a bike dealer so I do not know too much about bicycles. So As Is. It is missing an ELGIN handle grip. The seat measures 12' long by 10' wide and is marked ELGIN. (Please look at the seat picture it does have wear) One spoke in the back tire is wrapped around another spoke. (maybe could be straighten and reset) T is some rust to the bike and chrome. The worst is the front fender with the light. The rest seems to be some light surface rust which a good cleaning would probably take care of some. I tried to show a lot of pictures. If you like more pictures I would be happy to email them. The tires are 26' and are marked Allstate Crusader . The back tire has air in it. The front tire is flat. I do not have an air compressor so I am not sure if it would hold air. They do look old enough to be original to the bicycle. One of the two leather straps with are broken on the basket. With Some Time, Effort And Elbow Grease This Would An Awesome Antique Bicycle.
It is a very heavy bicycle. Any reasonable offer will be considered. Can be picked up or buyer would have to arrange shipping or pay for packaging and shipping. Also will deliver within 100 mi. from 17976 for ($50.00). Checks, money orders or paypal accepted. .. read moreComments are closed.
